A history of English pronunciation from the early fifteenth century to the beginning of the nineteenth and is essentially a study of the language as spoken. A very detailed study with numerous examples by the lexicographer and philologist, Henry Cecil Wyld (1870-1945), Professor of English Language and Literature, University of Oxford, from 1920. The first edition was published in 1918 and this is a reprint of the third edition of 1936.
