4to. 10 x 7.5 inches. 133 pp. Bound in original black cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has minor edge wear. A little ear to lower board edges, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 14 colour plates and by vignettes on preliminaries, including title page, and at end. A study of fourteen bird illustrators who used hand coloured lithography, and later chromolithography, to reproduce their work, by Christine Elisabeth Jackson (b.1936), who subsequently published a companion study on Bird Etchings and a Dictionary of Bird Artists (Antique Collectors' Club, 1999).
