4to. 11.5 x 9.5 inches. 128 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper. A very good copy. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white, with frontispiece and 221 figures. Exhibition catalogue which includes several essays and a chronology of the life of the painter and related events. David Roberts (1796-1864) was a prolific Scottish artist who painted extensively oils and watercolours from his travels in the Mediterranean and Near East. He is well known for the sequence of lithographs of his watercolours of Palestine and Egypt.
