8vo. 7 x 5 inches. xii+ 125 + [1] pp. Bound in original green cloth, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has some edge wear and chips and lightly sunned spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout by cartoons, including frontispiece and title page vignette. Humorous commentary on gardening in the same vein as the two authors' bestselling title, 1066 And All That (1930). Largely the work of Walter Carruthers Sellar (1898-1951), Scottish school teacher and contributor to Punch, it was also jointly credited to his writing partner, Robert Julian Yeatman (1899-1968), journalist, advertising copywriter and Punch contributor. Illustrated by the cartoons of Stephen Dowling (1904-86), newspaper comic artist (Lambiek.net Comic Creators website). First edition published 1936.
