Published to mark the American Revolution Bicentennial in 1976, this is a limited edition facsimile of two letters from George Washington (Mount Vernon and Philadelphia, April 1789), relating to his assumption of the office of US President, with two accompanying essays. Page Smith (1917-95) was a US academic historian and Jacob Zeitlin (1902-87), the publisher, was also a bookseller and collector.
