FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. 26 pp. In light blue stiff card boards with printed paper titles and engraving; a little wear to extremities, including corners and lightly sunned spine; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by six wood engravings, including frontispiece. A short study of the work of Kentish artist and book illustrator, John Austen (1886-1948), by the author, journalist and feminist novelist, Dorothy Miller Richardson (1873-1957), who was a friend of H. G. Wells, with whom she had a brief relationship c.1907 (at this time he was living in Sandgate, Kent). The volume includes A Hand-LIst of Books Illustrated by John Austen (see also, Selborne, British Wood-Engraved Book Illustrators 1904-1940, p.319-20.
