Illustrated by 32 pages of colour plates and by numerous black and white photographs and diagrams in text. Decorated by two page title photograph. Well illustrated history of the world land speed record from 1898, including three sections of profile colour plates and cutaway diagrams. Cyril Posthumus (1918-92) was an historian of motor cars and editor of motoring journals and David Tremayne is a motor racing journalist.
