8vo. 8 x 5.5 inches. 124 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper which is a little foxed with sunned spine and some worming at lower corner of front wrapper. Boards lightly sunned near edges; otherwise a very good copy. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A short study of the ethical implications of the theory of relativity by Einstein's chosen successor as Professor of Physics at the German University of Prague, 1912-38. Austrian scientist, Philipp Frank (1884-1966), physicist, mathematician and logical positivist philosopher, was a visiting lecturer at Harvard when the Germans entered Czechoslovakia in 1938 and therefore remained at Harvard with a permanent post until 1954. He published a biography of Einstein in 1947.
