4to. 10.5 x 7.25 inches. 95 + [1] pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, with blind stamped titles on front board, Some wear to extremities and bumping of lower right corners and page edges. Spine sunned and slight browning of flyleaves; otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by 8 colour plates, including frontispiece and by 27 black and white text figures. Decorated by ornamental series device on title page. Name on first free endpaper. A well illustrated study of the history and craft of bookbinding in the English court, principally from the reign of Henry VIII to George IV, including examples collected by George III and his librarian for the Royal Library.
