FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. 9 x 6 inches, xx + 299 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, in pictorial dust wrapper, with edge wear including chips at head and tail of spine, which is sunned. A little wear to extremities and browning of flyleaves, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 10 colour photographic plates, including frontispiece, by 48 black and white photographic plates and by maps and text figures. First edition of the well illustrated full account of the 1953 British expedition which led to the first successful ascent of Mount Everest, by the expedition leader, John Hunt (1910-88).
