Illustrated by wood engravings, including frontispiece and by six in text. Decorated by headpiece vignettes. Early edition of the Christian allegorical novel first published in 1682 by John Bunyan (1628-88). The town of Mansoul is Man's Soul, led into rebellion by Diabolus. Shaddai, the Almighty, sends his son, Emmanuel, to redeem it. Scarce edition illustrated by fine wood engravings (ESTC T58551).
