Bound in original half maroon cloth, gilt, over green cloth boards, with gilt roundel of Queen Elizabeth on front board. Binder's label of Chas. J. Thynne 6, Gt. Queen St., London W.C. Rough cut edges. A little wear to extremities, including edges and bumped corners and at head and tail of spine, which has small water stain. Flyleaves browned, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Library labels on front pastedown Illustrated by facsimile frontispiece. Decorated by headpiece vignettes. An interpretative study of the various additional material added to the liturgy of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer from 1549 to 1662. Chapters include Black Letter Holy Days, the Injunctions and Advertisements of Queen Elizabeth, The Ornaments Rubric, The Breaking of the Bread, the two Books of Homilies, The Declaration of Kneeling and Articles XXXI and XXXVI of the Thirty Nine Articles.
