FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 6 x 9 inches. 265 + [1] pp. Bound in original half brown cloth, gilt, over grey boards with green title and block. Rough cut edges. Foxing largely confined to preliminaries, edges and margins; otherwise a very good copy. Signed verse bookplate. Booksellers label of William Jolly, Newton Stewart. Signed by author on portrait frontispiece, dated 1925. illustrated by 20 pages of plates protected by tissue guards and by engraved title. Decorated by colophon at end. Sixteen sketches by Galloway writer, Andrew McCormick, including one of local author, S. R. Crockett and one on George Borrow's tour in the region. Several of the articles were previously published in The Galloway Gazette, The Newton Stewart Journal, The Gallovidian and the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society. Introduction by Charles Shirra Dougall (1868-1930), Rector of Dollar Academy. Illustrated by Galloway landscape painter, John Copland (1854-1929).
